Obituary

Mamie Victoria Williams, daughter of the late
Mamie Luevine and Johnnie Williams, was born on July 25, 1938, in
Washington, D.C. She peacefully transitioned from earth to heaven, to
be with the Lord on April 17, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Mamie gave her life to Christ at an early age at the United Baptist
Church under the leadership of the late Reverend George E.
Vanderford – Pastor Emeritus. She continued her service there under
the current leadership of Pastor Dr. Carl J. Solomon. Mamie truly
loved her church family.
Mamie received her education through the Baltimore City Public
School system. She was a dedicated employee of Genesis Healthcare
Corporation for twenty-six years. She loved working what she called
the “graveyard shift.” She was always ready, willing, and able to help
her patients with a smile.
Mamie’s house was always full of children. From grandchildren, to
nieces, nephews and even children of family friends. Despite working
all night, Mamie cared for all three of her great grandchildren and
refused to let them attend daycare. When Mamie was not caring for
children, you could always find her at a flea market, yard sale or thrift
store. After retiring, Mamie spent her days helping her fellow residents
at the Everall Gardens Senior Living Center. Caring for others was
always a priority for Mamie. Mamie was a loving mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who
genuinely be missed.
Mamie is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Murray; son
Marius Murray, two brothers John Williams and Clarence Fuller.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter Desimoune V.
McCoy and her Son-in-law Deacon Nathaniel McCoy. Three
grandchildren Damon Eugene Richardson, devoted granddaughter
Natoshia Sharee McCoy and Tiffany Danielle Murray. Three great
grandchildren Jakira, Nya, and Damien. One brother Matthew
Williams and her sister-in-law Ernestine Williams. One devoted sister
Memezella (Winky) Ann Taylor and a very close friend Deacon
Sharlotte Waller.. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and her church
family.

  1. Aunt Mamie will truly be missed. My heart is heavy, but I know without a doubt that I will see her again. Weeping endures for a night , but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5). May the Lord watch over, comfort, and grant peace to my cousin and all of the families during this difficult time.
