Wilgens Mesalien, affectionately known to so many as “Jamma,” was born in Broward County on October 3, 1987 to Wilson and Therese Mesalien. He was raised in Pompano Beach, Florida, in the Golden Acres Development Apartments, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the bold, determined spirit that would define his life.
Jamma was a visionary, a businessman, and a true entrepreneur at heart. He believed in hard work, independence, and creating opportunities—not just for himself, but for everyone around him. He loved making money, but more importantly, he loved using his success to support his family and friends. If he had it, you had it.
Upon Leaving Blanche Ely High School He attended and graduated from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, the city he would call home for most of his life. Daytona was where he grew, built businesses, raised his daughter, and planted deep roots within his community.
Jamma was the proud founder of Tytework Music Productions, where he nurtured his passion for music and creativity. Music was more than a hobby—it was a calling. He also founded Mesalien & Associates Tax Office, Mesalien Media Group Mobile Billboard 4 Hire, Mesalien Investment Properties and most recently, Dee-Dee’s Authentic Haitian Cuisine, a heartfelt tribute to his beloved late mother, Therese Mesalien, whom everyone lovingly called “Dee-Dee.”
His mother meant everything to him. Her passing in March 2017 left a space in his heart that could never be filled. He also carried deep love for his grandmother, Iderose Herard, whom we affectionately called “Nenen.” Her passing in July 2014 was another profound loss in his life. Today, we find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with both his beloved mother and his cherished grandmother in the presence of the Lord.
Beyond business, Jamma loved cooking and bringing people together over food, laughter, and music. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. His energy was contagious, his ambition unmatched, and his love for his family undeniable.
Above all else, Jamma was a devoted father. His greatest pride and joy was his beautiful three-year-old daughter, Wynter Therese Mesalien. She was his world, his motivation, and the purest expression of his love.
He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Wynter; his loving father, Wilson Mesalien; his fiancée, Daviesha Baptiste; his brothers, Willuance Mesalien and Peterson Mesalien; his brother-in-law, Jean Robert Desil; his sister-in-law, Lakendra Moore; and his sisters, Medjine, Lourdie Cindy, Christelle Mesalien, and Catysha Dorcely. He also leaves behind his nephews, Clarence Ellis (CJ), Nathaniel Thidas, Kendrick Moore, Peterson Mesalien Jr. (PJ), and Aaron Mesalien; and his nieces, Kylei Mesalien and Naylaa Desil.
He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins from the Voltaire, Harrigan, Mesalien, Baptiste, Culliver, Saintilmond, and Francois families, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.
Though only 38 years old, Jamma lived boldly. He dreamed big. He moved with purpose. He loved deeply.
His legacy will live on through his daughter, through the businesses he built, through the music he created, and through the countless lives he impacted.
Rest peacefully, Jamma. Your work here is done. Reunited with Dee-Dee, forever in our hearts.
