Nettie L. Kelly, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 1, 2025, at the age of 92, in Maryland. Born on April 4, 1933, in North Carolina, Nettie lived a life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Nettie was a cherished matriarch who nurtured her family with kindness and wisdom. Her legacy is carried on by her devoted sons, Johnny, Van, Brian, and Quentin, as well as her affectionate daughter, Jackie. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, shaped by her guidance and love. She was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren—Shelly, Dionne, Kelby, Quentin Jr., and Ebony—who brought her immense joy and whom she adored dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Matthews, and her mother, Mable Matthews, as well as her beloved sisters, Lucius and Mary Lily. The memories of her parents and sisters were always close to her heart, and she often spoke of them with a smile, sharing stories that brought comfort and laughter to those around her.

Nettie's life will be celebrated through a Viewing and Celebration of Life, which will take place on September 9, 2025, at Hari P. Close Funeral Service, P.A. in Baltimore, Maryland. The viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a heartfelt celebration from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable life and the love she so freely gave.
