Gwen Shelton was a strong advocate for her community, Greater Mondawmin, and all residents of Baltimore City. For years, she led the Matthew Henson Neighborhood Association with a determination to improve the community. She often said, “It’s not where you live, it’s how you live!” Gwen has left an indelible impression on her community and Baltimore City. She gave of her time unselfishly and found joy in helping others. This was evidenced in her countless hours of community work. In addition to carefully tending to her family and community, Gwen led a Women’s Prison Ministry through her church. She was dedicated to helping the women in prison who are often forgotten. Gwen’s life was one of faith, family, strength, courage, compassion, and an unwavering determination to leave the community better than the way that she found it.
Gwen was a great friend! She will be missed.
