Maurice Henry Yarborough, affection known as Butchie, was the cherished second of eight children born to the late Robert and Mattie Sue Yarborough on September 19, 1946. Maurice's gentle spirit was called home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2025. A proud alumnus of the Baltimore Public Schools, he also attended the Arc School for the Handicapped, where his warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around him.
Maurice was defined by his loving nature; he was kind, quiet, and easy-going, embracing life with a gentle heart. He found joy in drawing, dancing, coloring, and savoring delicious meals. Most of all, he treasured the moments spent with his siblings, showering them with love. His bond with his sister Senora was particularly special. After the passing of their mother, she lovingly took on the role of caregiver, providing unwavering support and care throughout Maurice's life—a testament to the profound love they shared. His great-nephew Kayden affectionately referred to him as “Little Buddie,” lending a helping hand alongside Senora.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents and two brothers, Charles (Chalie) and Walter, as well as his sister Ruby, Maurice leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his three sisters, Daphne Johnson (Calvin), Senora Yarborough, and Constance Yarborough, and his brother William Yarborough. He also leaves behind three nieces, Jenel, Charisse, and Peyton; two nephews, Rodney and Rodrick; and his great-nephew Kayden—the joyful “Little Buddie” who brightened his days.
In honoring the life of Maurice, we celebrate his spirit—a soul filled with love and gentleness that will remain in our hearts forever.
