IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrie Mae
Heidelberg Goines
November 27, 1938 – December 15, 2025
Carrie M. Goines Tribute
Mrs. Carrie Mae Heidelberg Goines, an 87-year-old Matriarch transitioned on December 15, 2025. Born in the "Big Apple" (NY, NY), Ma-Ma as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren or Gi-Gi [which her great-grandchildren called her] was a consummate caregiver and Domestic Engineer. Carrie’s eldest son, John Edward Jones preceded her in death. Together with her husband Charles Goines Sr. (who preceded Carrie in death) Carrie raised five children, Carrie, Karen, Charles Jr., Renee and Joanne. Her eldest daughter, Carrie, preceded her in death.
Carrie demonstrated a natural ability to teach, train and lead. These skills became quite prevalent while raising a family of five. Carrie also possessed a strong sense of order and served as the household disciplinarian. Carrie firmly believed in honoring one’s duties and responsibilities to family, community and God. This was demonstrated in her role of wife, mother, godmother, aunt and grandmother. Additionally, she served as a volunteer foster parent. One such foster child, Veronica Richardson, became a permanent member of the lively family. Many children passed through the Goines home. All of them were welcomed with open arms and all were treated like family. When Carrie surrendered her life to Christ, she ensured that all of her children were introduced to The Lord as well. She instilled both natural and spiritual principles and values into all children in her care.
Carrie will be honored and remembered for being a gallant lady who had no problem sharing her opinion with others, whether they asked for it or not. As the saying goes, she ‘took no tea for the fever’. Her no-nonsense approach became characteristically expected and revered amongst those who knew and loved her. We will always remember Carrie Mae Heidelberg Goines for the caring, strong, independent, highly opinionated, no nonsense but fun-loving and highly principled Matriarch she was. To God be the glory for her sojourn among us.
