BRENDA RICH
OBITIARY
BRENDA BANKS-RICH, born December 31,1946 to the late Juanita M. Collins and Leroy Otis Banks. She departed this life after a lengthy illness Sunday, February 8, 2026. Brenda was the second oldest of five children.
She received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School system.
Brenda was married to her late husband Edward Rich for thirteen years before his death. Brenda loved music and she would listen for three to four days at a time. She always kept an immaculate home. It would take her days to rearrange everything from the furniture to cupboards and cabinets. Nothing ever stayed in the same place for long. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. And when she cooked her Sunday dinner she always cooked enough to share with people in the neighborhood.
She loved watching old westerns and especially scary vampire movies and she loved watching wrestling on Wednesday nights. She also loved a good card game.
Brenda had a special relationship with her siblings and each of her five nieces. She and her nieces had a special bond and place in her heart. She loved when the children called “Aunt Brenda” She knew she was special.
Brenda preceded in death by her husband Edward Rich, parents, her siblings; brother James (Jimmy). Jones, sisters; Carolyn Banks-McClain and Sylvia Victoria (Vicky) Chappell-Sherman, two Brother-In Laws; Deacon Douglas Coates, and Dr. Rubin McClain, two nephews; Thomas Jermaine Lovett and Romanio A. (Lil Man) Jones.
Cherishing her loving memories: Sister Joyce Coates, five Nieces; Robin (Shelly), Dionne (DeeDee), Carol (Lil Carol), Natarsha (Toy) (Samuel), and Tanika (Nikki). Two Brother In-laws; Charles Jerome Sherman and David Mont. A host of great nieces and nephews, family and friends and an incredibly special friend Ms. Vanessa Murray.
Ms. Vanessa, special friend to Brenda for more than fifty-three years, as well as caregiver prior to and through the entire time of her illness. They had a bond between them; a promise to take care of each other. The definition of a friend and caregiver was Ms. Vanessa.
