Life has a way of happening when you least expect it—and when it’s the least convenient for you. And just when you aren’t sure you could fit any more into your schedule, a family member passes on. Sometimes life can’t come to a screeching halt to deal with Baltimore, MD cremation and other final services. Whether you have family obligations, your own illness to manage, or other things going on, working a cremation into it all can be a challenge, but something that must be done, at times. Here are a few tips to help:

Go Direct

If you have to have a loved one cremated, the easiest form of the disposition method is direct cremation. With direct cremation, your loved one goes to cremation soon after they pass on. There aren’t any services before the cremation takes place. With that option, you can wait on memorial services until you have more time to plan them. Direct cremation is simple to set up as well since you only have to contact a funeral home, get the paperwork in order (like the death certificate) and put things into motion. The rest is up to the funeral home.

Ask For Help

If you already have too much to deal with in your life, like an illness you are battling yourself, or a family situation that can’t be put off, you might have to ask some of the relatives around you to help you out. There’s nothing wrong with asking someone close to you to choose a funeral home and at least start the processes. If you want a memorial service, contacting a funeral home yourself and telling them what you want is almost as easy. As long as your thoughts are organized, you can allow them to take care of the details and get everything in order for you.

Keep Things Simple

There are no right or wrong ways to honor your loved one. If you get direct cremation for them, you are welcome to have a full blown memorial service for them that feels like a funeral, if that’s what you want. But when you have cremation done, you don’t have to do that. You can gather close family for a small ash scattering ceremony that doesn’t take any time to plan. Keeping things simple can still honor your loved one without pushing your schedule even further.
